Prof. Dr. Dr. Udo Di Fabio

Prof. Dr. Dr. Udo Di Fabio was born in Walsum in 1954. From 1970 to 1980 he worked as a local government official in the city of Dinslaken, before embarking on a career as a judge at the Social Court of Duisburg. He earned his first doctorate in law in 1987 and his second doctorate in the social sciences in 1990. He then completed his habilitation in 1993 at the University of Bonn. From 1993 to 2003 he worked as a professor at the universities of Münster, Trier, and Munich; and from 1999 to 2011 he was a judge at the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe. He has been teaching at the University of Bonn’s Institute of Public Law since 2003, and is a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities, and the Arts.
