Festival of European Culture in Karlsruhe (EKT)
The Festival of European Culture in Karlsruhe (Europäische Kulturtage, EKT) takes place every two years and is one of the most significant cultural events the city of Karlsruhe has to offer. During the two-week festival, the local cultural institutions involved dedicate themselves to contemporary and historical European culture, each time focusing on a specific region or topic. Since 1992, the ZAK has organised the EKT’s scientific symposium in cooperation with diverse partners such as the ZKM | Center for Art and Media, and the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe. The ZAK picks up controversial aspects of the festival’s theme and illuminates them from the perspective of science, research, politics, economy, society and culture in the form of scientific lectures, discussions and roundtables, as well as artistic contributions.
