Daniela Vega was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She began her education with piano and ballet lessons when she was six years old. In 2003 she completed her classical ballet training at the Royal Academy of Dance, and from 2001 to 2005 she studied singing at the São Paulo State University. In Brazil, she was a permanent member of the choir of the Symphony Orchestra of the State of São Paulo, and played leading roles in operettas and musicals, including The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado, Beauty and the Beast, The Phantom of the Opera, The King and I, and West Side Story. Her repertoire includes numerous roles for lyric soprano, and she also does concert work. From 2010 to 2012 she held a scholarship from the DAAD, studying song composition at the Masters level with Prof. Mitsuko Shirai as well as studying in the lied class of Prof. Hartmut Höll and Prof. Mitsuko Shirai at the University of Music (HfM) Karlsruhe. In 2011 she was a prizewinner of the Baden Cultural Fund as well as of the German University Competition (2nd prize) in the category of lied duo. Since 2012 Vega has been studying song composition (vocals) in the ‘soloist’ degree programme at the University of Music (HfM) Karlsruhe with Prof. Mitsuko Shirai and Prof. Hartmut Höll. Together with her lied duo partner, pianist Hsu-Chen Su, Daniela Vega received the 2013 scholarship of the Kunstiftung Baden-Württemberg (Arts Foundation Baden-Württemberg) in the music category.
