Prof. Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija

Prof. Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija, born in Sarajevo in 1955, is a former prime minister and minister of foreign affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He studied computer science and electrical engineering at the University of Sarajevo. From 1988–1989, he held a Fulbright postdoctoral research and teaching position at the University of Arizona. Since 1989, he is a professor at the School of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Sarajevo.
From 1997–2014, Lagumdžija was president of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP). He served in the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the prime minister and acting prime minister, twice as deputy prime minister, and twice as minister of foreign affairs in various periods between 1992 and 2015. He was a member of the Party of European Socialists from 2009–2016.
Among others, Lagumdžija is a member of Club de Madrid, an association of 100 former Heads of State and Government and of the World Academy of Art and Science. Since 1998, he is a member of ‘Global Leaders for Tomorrow’, which is part of the World Economic Forum; since 2004, he is a member of the ‘International Advisory Committee for the Congress of Democrats from the Islamic World’.
He is the founder and director of the Center for Management and Information Technology in Sarajevo since 1995, and founder and head of the Management and Information Technologies Department at the University of Sarajevo’s School of Economics since 1994. Moreover, he is the founder of the foundation Shared Societies and Values Sarajevo.
He is the author of numerous books and papers both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and internationally.
